Edo Police launch manhunt

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of a serving Police Inspector attached to the Ekiadolor Area Command.
The officer whose name is yet to be released, was fatally shot while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation.

The incident occurred Friday, December 5 at about 12:00 hours when an unregistered, black, heavily-tinted Lexus SUV refused to stop at a checkpoint.

During efforts to conduct a lawful security check, one of the occupants allegedly opened fire at close range, killing the Inspector, before fleeing.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, has ordered a full-scale investigation and manhunt, deploying all intelligence and operational assets to track down the perpetrators.

Residents are also encouraged to cooperate with security agencies as efforts intensify to protect lives and property, especially during the yuletide season.

The Edo State Police Command extends condolences to the family of the fallen officer and reassures the public of its resolve to ensure justice is served.
