President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Monday received in audience Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Governor Fubara arrived at the Presidential Villa around 6:25 p.m.

The visit was the first since the governor resumed his official duties following six months after the president declared State of Emergency rule.

Fielding questions from State House correspondents, the governor said he was in the Villa to confer with the President.

“You’re aware that suspension was lifted at midnight 17th, and I came in on the 19th. Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr. President and to tell him that I’m back, and I’ve also resumed my responsibility as the Governor of the Rivers State. It’s not much.

“It’s father-son discussion, telling him thank you and and the areas where, if at all, there should be any issue for him to guide me properly so we don’t be in any situation of crisis. That’s all,” he said.

The governor also dismissed speculations about the genuineness of the peace deal in the state, saying it’s real.

“I don’t know what you mean if this is a paper piece. As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together,” he said.
