“Son and daughter-in-law were discussing in their room and the door was slightly open so that their conversation was heard by the son’s mother sitting outside.
The son said, “We’re so busy with our work and responsibilities that we can’t take care of Mom. Why don’t we send her to old peoples home? She’ll be well looked after there, and we can visit her from time to time.”
Hearing this, the mother’s heart was almost broken. Disappointment and deep sadness were evident on her face. But then, what the daughter-in-law said touched her heart.
The daughter-in-law replied, “How can you even think of leaving your mother alone for the sake of money and work? Don’t you remember how much she struggled to raise you after your father passed away? She never left you in anyone else’s care. And today, you’re talking about sending her away from home? Mom will stay here, with us. If needed, I’ll quit my job, but I won’t leave her alone. I can stay home, do some work to support tuitions, and manage expenses, but I won’t abandon Mom.”
Hearing his wife’s words, the son fell silent. Tears welled up in the mother’s eyes. She quietly went to the prayer room, folded her hands, and said to God, “Oh Lord, I always thought you didn’t give me a daughter, but today I realized that the daughter-in-law you’ve given me is more than a daughter. Thank you so much.”
Tears of joy now flowed from the mother’s eyes. The daughter-in-law had proven that relationships are not of blood, but of the heart.”
