Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, the Armed Forces, and Nigerians for the outpouring of support following the death of his father.
Yusuf spoke on behalf of the Buhari family during a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) held in honour of the late former president in Abuja.
He said the family was overwhelmed by the love, prayers, and solidarity received from all segments of society during what he described as “a difficult and painful period.”
“We are humbled and deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the honour done to our father and for standing with our family in this time of grief,” Yusuf said.
He also thanked Vice President Shettima, National Assembly leaders, the Nigerian military, and the general public for their condolence messages, visits, and tributes, noting that the show of unity reflected the deep respect his father commanded across the country.
“Our father lived for Nigeria and died a fulfilled man. Your support has given us strength and comfort in this moment of loss,” he added.
The special FEC session featured prayers and eulogies by cabinet members and other dignitaries, marking the continuation of national mourning for the former Head of State and two-term civilian President, who died last week at the age of 82.
