Two members of the opposition parties in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, June 24, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
PDP’s Peter Akpanke, representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekware Federal Constituency of Cross River State, defected to the APC alongside Labour Party’s Prof Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal constituency of Enugu State.
While Akpanke said he was dumping the PDP because of the protracted crisis in the party, Nnamchi also hinged his decision on the leadership crisis in the Labour Party.
The letters of defection of the two lawmakers were read at plenary on Tuesday by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.
