“In October 1925, a woman named Lugdi died soon after having a baby boy in Mathura, India.

A year later, 75 miles (121km) away in New Delhi, a baby girl named Shanti Devi was born. When Shanti turned four, she started telling her parents stories about a past life — as if she was one Lugdi.

She said she had a husband, a merchant who was fair-skinned, had a wart on his left cheek, and wore reading glasses.
As Shanti’s stories became clearer and more detailed, her family decided to look for the man she said was her husband. They found him in the exact city she had mentioned, and he matched all the details she gave.

They arranged a meeting between Shanti and the man. During their talk, the man asked her questions about his wife, Lugdi.

Her answers were very accurate, and the man was moved to tears.

It was almost like Lugdi, the wife who had died, was speaking through Shanti.”
