Social media influencer and best selling author, Reno Omokri, has remained unrelenting in his jabs at Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and the Presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 election. Responding to Peter Obi’s claim that Nigeria is collapsing, he wrote via X:

“Contrary to the doomsday rhetoric from some quarters, Nigeria is on a path of growth and reform.

“For the first time in history, the Central Bank of Nigeria recorded a surplus of $6.89 billion. This is a remarkable turnaround from the days of consistent quarterly deficits, including the $2 billion shortfalls we witnessed under the Buhari administration. That is not collapse—that is progress.

“In 2024, Nigeria’s GDP grew by 3.84%, outperforming even the United States and the United Kingdom. Again, that is not collapse—it’s expansion”, the influencer added.

Continuing, Omokri stated;”Lagos State’s economy has grown dramatically, from $100 billion under Buhari to $259 billion under Tinubu — despite fearmongering messages like “Invest in Lagos at your own peril” from critics like you [Peter Obi] and Maryanne Moghalu. Investors clearly ignored the noise and the numbers show why.

“The economic reforms — fuel subsidy removal, naira flotation, and debt reduction have begun to yield results. Food prices are beginning to stabilize, and inflation has dropped significantly from 34.80% to 24.48% as of February 2025. These are real, measurable improvements.

“Let’s talk about Anambra State, your [Peter Obi] home turf. Under Tinubu, your state now receives almost three times what it used to get during Buhari’s time. If that’s what you consider a collapse, perhaps your Governor should return the difference.

“Even more personally, your shares in a certain bank (which I won’t name) have tripled in value. Ironically, you’ve benefited directly from the very government you criticize**.

“In summary, the only thing collapsing is your presidential ambition as your appearance at INEC yesterday made painfully clear. You’ve lost control of your party, and sadly, it seems, you’re also losing control of the narrative.
