A man from northern Nigeria has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo to take swift action to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Edo State.

SaharaReporters said it has seen a video, Tuesday, where the unidentified man threatened that failure to bring the perpetrators of the dasterdly Uromi killing of 16 Nigerians of northern extraction who were en route to Kano for the Eid-Al-Fitr celebration, would lead to retaliatory attacks against southerners residing in the north.

In the three-minute, 30-second video obtained by Saharareporters, the man expressed his concerns over the killings, stating that northerners would not remain patient in the face of such attacks.

He implied that any reprisals in the north should be blamed on southerners.

“Following the threat, a public affairs analyst, Dr. Joseph Ebinum, said the heinous act has been summarily condemned by all Nigerians, so there is no reason to make the bad case worse by embarking on revenge killings.

He said; I’ve not heard or seen any person or group that has not condemned the act. Everyone was united in condemning and calling for full investigation and prosecution of the offenders.
Although this is hard to bear, especially for the families, we are one brothers and sisters, therefore , there should be restraint.
While extending my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and Kano State; I call for speedy investigation and prosecution of the offenders according to the law.”
