The kidnapped former Delta State commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, has been released by her abductors.

Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives was released by her abductors late Friday night, according to a report by NIGER DELTA TODAY Online.

Although, details about her release are still sketchy, it was gathered that the former lawmaker has arrived Asaba, Delta State capital.

 

It was also gathered that the abductors demanded N1 billon as ransom, but it was not clear if any money was paid before she was set free.

The spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the release of Onyemaechi, popularly know as Ada Anioma, on Friday night.

Onyemaechi was forcefully kidnapped by arms-wielding gunmen on July 30th from her Church premises along the DBS Road Asaba.

At least two persons including a policeman were confirmed killed by the gunmen while others sustained gunshots injuries during the kidnap attack.
