Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon Samuel Oligida has called for continuous support and partnership with the state government in the implementation of its programmes and policies.
Hon Oligida made the call in Asaba, when he jointly with Professor Emmanuel Biri, Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, and Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly hosted the ex-classmates in the state capital.
Addressing the classmates who are technocrats in various fields, the Trade and Investment Commissioner said he was indeed proud to be part of the class who have distinguished themselves as achievers in society.
Hon. Oligida, who is also the Supervising Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, stressed that as a people who have risen to become great men and women of influence, they should continue to give back to their Alma Mater; adding that the knowledge they imbibed as students of the university which have shaped them into better people should be put into full use in service of the nation.
While commending the ‘Indomitable Class 98′ for the visit, he enjoined them to support the Governor Oborevwori’s administration through his MORE Agenda in promoting Education, Agriculture as well as attracting investments to the state.
He urged the ‘Indomitable Class’ to continue to maintain the bond of unity which has existed between them over the years.
Also, the Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Professor Emmanuel Biri – also a member of the class, expressed gratitude to God for divine elevations which have made the Indomitable Class of ‘98 personalities to be reckoned with in society.
Prof. Biri expressed outward joy on the gathering, and thanked the ex-classmates for their continuous show of love for one another and prayed God to sustain and elevate them.
In the same vein, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, pointed out the need for all to remain good ambassadors of the class, even as he expressed gratitude to God for bringing them thus far.
Mr. Nwaeke paid glowing tributes to their benefactors, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Speaker of the Delta State Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, as well as Governor Siminayali Fubura of River State who appointed one of the former classmates, Dr. Boniface Onyedi as his Senior Special Assistant, Media; for finding them worthy to serve in the various offices.
He expressed the hope for an early reunion party to bring the members together for grand celebration of God’s grace on each and every member of the class.
Other members of the class who spoke at the get-together include: Dr. Patrick Edema, Lecturer, Dennis Osadebay University; Dr. Emmanuel Akpoveta, the Dean, School of ICT, Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku; Mr. Kingsley Okiroro, Special Assistant to Governor of Delta State; Mr. Lawrence Okpewho, a retired General Manager, DBS Asaba; and Mrs. Mary Amechi Ofuokwu, among others. They lauded the achievements the members have recorded so far and thanked God for the success stories. They prayed for more open doors for the members.
The visit was climaxed with a presentation of gifts to Hon. Samuel Oligida and Professor Emmanuel Biri.
