On choice of course to study

“Before you spend four years studying a course at a university, do a Cost Benefit Analysis. Take a course like philosophy. If you study philosophy for four years and you graduate, of what benefit are you to yourself and society? With Google, anyone can understand any aspect of philosophy in ten minutes or less. Then you start saying, ‘I don’t have a job four years after graduating. The government is useless.’ No. It is not the government that is useless. You, right now, I challenge you to name five places you can work and add value with your philosophy, sociology, library science, and other such liberal chewing gum degrees.

Be realistic. Spend half the cost and time to learn nursing, SEO optimising, web designing, coding, programming, machine learning, cloud computing, blockchain, and AI skills. That is a more successful outcome against money spent. Don’t study a course that lost relevance in the eighties and then blame the government. Blame yourself. AI, robots and automation are rendering even valuable degrees like accounting, HR management and creative writing close to obsolete, and you are still applying to study sociology to become one out of fifty thousand sociology graduates chasing non-existing jobs.

Fact-check me. Fortune 500 companies in the US are dropping degree requirements in place of skills. Please study a course that is up to tomorrow, not one that belongs in a museum.

Yes, I know what you just read is annoying. But am I lying?”

Creating wealth

“To be wealthy, stop doing what you are good at for free, even if it is your hobby. For example, if you know how to make people laugh, don’t do it for others for free. Charge for it. If you know how to sing, charge. That is why God gave you the talent. Not as a hobby. But as a business! Stop designing websites, writing resumes/CVs, landscaping, accounting or laundry for friends and family for free. It is not kindness. It is foolishness. They are making money from their own skills. You, too, should make money from yours. Turn it into a business!”

In relationship

“Dear men,

If only God allowed you to see what happens a month after you die, you would stop living to impress people and just relax and enjoy life. Because everyone will move on. Including and especially that girl that you starved yourself to buy her an iPhone! Her DP will change to her new man. She may not even attend your funeral. And on the anniversary of your death, she may forget you.

Do you doubt me? How many young music stars have died in the last ten years? What happened to their girlfriends? Did they move on? Did it take up to a year? Are you better loved, more prosperous or more influential than that star?

So relax. Do not allow any woman who is not your wife to stress you. And do not marry anyone who gives you wahala. If billing is killing you, seek your healing by leaving her. Please do what you like with your life, as long as it is not a sin and does not break the law. If it is braids you want to wear on your head, wear it. If you like food, eat it. If you see someone you like, tell them. Because when you are gone, you are gone!”

On the need to work smart

“The idea that hard work is always good and profitable is one of the world’s greatest illusion. Hard work is not necessarily good. Why do you think criminals are sentenced to prison with hard labour? Because hard work is punishing. Work smart, not hard! Hard work is a curse! After man fell, God said “By the sweat of your brow you will eat until you return to the ground”-Gen 3:19. It was not always like that. Christ came to, amongst other things, teach us how to work smart, and replace LABOUR with FAVOUR!”

The power of money

“Think of having money as having an umbrella. When the sun is harsh, it will provide shade. When it rains, it will provide shelter. Yes, money can’t buy life. But money affects your quality of life. Money may not affect how long you live. But money will affect how well you live. That is why you should do everything legally possible to make money. Money is never evil. Money spreads the Gospel. Money builds hospitals. Money feeds the hungry. Money pays for research. You know what is evil? Poverty. Because it steals your health, kills your peace and destroys your dreams. Make money morally and legally so you can do good!”
