The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, yesterday announced the appointment of Mr. Nkem Nwaeke as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS).

Guwor who announced this during Tuesday’s Plenary, noted that Nwaeke’s appointment, takes immediate effect.

Speaking further on the appointment during a thank-you visit by Assembly correspondents in his office, the Speaker stressed that Nwaeke’s appointment came after a careful consideration, just as he described Nwaeke as a media guru who knows his onions.

“You will recall that I took time in coming up with this decision. The reason for the delay is to avoid making mistakes. Mr. Nkem Nwaeke is indeed a committed, dedicated and hardworking journalist.

“I have known Nkem Nwaeke for quite a long time and I have no doubt that he will discharge his new role creditably” Guwor said.

Mr. Nwaeke, until his appointment, was the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Warri correspondent in the State House of Assembly for a period spanning two decades.

Mr. Nwaeke, an Assistant General Manager with DBS Warri, and a former Secretary, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) DBS, Warri Chapel, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree – (BA Hons), Mass Communication from Delta State University, Abraka.

He was a Vice Chairman and Secretary, NUJ DBS Warri Chapel and a pioneer correspondent of Delta Broadcasting Service, Government House, Asaba.

The new CPS was also a two- term Director of Publicity of his community, Igbodo Development Union (IDU), World-wide.
Mr. Nwaeke has held many other leadership positions and was a recipient of the prestigious IDU award for “Community Service”, including a chieftaincy title (investiture in view) by HRM Obi Albert Iyeke II, Obi of Igbodo Kingdom, Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta State as well as “2022 Reporter of the Year DBS Warri Merit Award”.

Nkem Nweke is married and has children.
