Crowning of HRM Ogiogio II

Prince Samuel Akpomiemie Fuludu from the Ogiogio Ruling House in Kiagbodo town, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State was on Tuesday, October 29, 2023 crowned Pere of Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom and would henceforth be known and addressed as HRM Ogiogio II.

HRM Ogiogio II was crowned at the traditional headquarters of Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom, Kiagbodo, by the ten living king makers from the ruling house that make up the kingdom according to age long tradition.

The journey of crowning HRM Ogiogio II as Pere of Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom began on 2nd July, 2022 when he was elected Pere designate by the king makers at Ngbilebiri Ancestral Hall, in accordance with the 1968 Gazette of Mid-West Regional Government.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after performing the crowning process, the Tonkepa, Prime Minister of the kingdom, who doubles as the regent of the kingdom; Chief Andrew Akpesele said that with the successful crowning of HRM Ogiogio II, the kingdom has been set on a path of progress and tranquility.

The Tonkepa who expressed appreciation to God for the smooth and peaceful crowning process, commended indigenes of Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom for their peaceful disposition for over six years without a traditional ruler.

Chief Akpesele who sued for support to the newly crowned Pere, prayed that the reign of HRM Ogiogio II will usher peace and development in the kingdom.

Secretary of Pere in Council of Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom, High Chief Yerin E. Yerin noted that the process was done in accordance with the Chieftaincy Edict of 1979 of the then Bendel State of Nigeria, as now applicable to Delta State, adding that they now await the presentation of staff of office from the state government.

Chief Ebikeme Clark, Chief Stephen Tesimone, Chief David Oruohwobre and other King makers of Ngbilebiri-Mein Kingdom, stated that it was a new dawn for the kingdom and appealed to the people to give maximum support to the new Pere in order to take the kingdom to enviable heights.
