A hotelier in Sapele, Delta State, Joseph Emekeme, popularly known as Semikolo, Chairman, Covenant Suites, has been beaten to death by his children.
Emekeme, who is also a Deacon of Winner’s Chapel got into trouble with his children over his philandering with a side chic.
A source said that the hotelier fell gravely ill after his sons who are university graduates assaulted him when they caught him with a side chic. They demanded one million naira as ransom, or tell their mother of his escapades with the lady.
The matter got to a head when the father seized the children’s cars after learning that the matter was reported to his wife.
The children reportedly attacked him and policemen drafted to the scene.
They were eventually arrested, while their father was rushed to a local hospital, and later to University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City.
The wife, who was holidaying abroad, reportedly flew back and facilitated release of the children from police custody.
She was also said to have effected discharge of her husband from the hospital against doctors’ advice.
The hotelier eventually slipped into coma and gave up the ghost.
