A human rights lawyer, Dr. Akpo Mudiaga Odje, who was abducted in Warri metropolis on Sunday, has been released by his abductors after collecting unspecified amount of money as ransom.
The legal practioner was abducted at about 6:30 pm on Sunday at his chamber near Warri Main Market, Delta State and was released on Monday, per SaharaReporters.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Monday, and said the police were investigating the matter.
One of the legal practitioner’s close associates who confirmed the release, said; “Yes, Akpo was kidnapped but he has been released. I think some amount was paid as ransom.”
It was gathered that the lawyer had not come to the police station for debriefing.
