Journalist with the People’s Gazette, Ayoola Babalola who on April 1, published a leaked audio call between the presidential candidate of Labour party (LP), Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel) has allegedly promised to confess on reasons behind the story following the backlashes after the audio was busted as ‘fake news’.
According to a report, in the viral audio file, featuring Obi and Oyedepo voices, a conversion could be heard on measures to deploy to win the 2023 presidential election for the former Anambra governor in the 2023 general elections.
The voice clip generated mixed reactions on and off social media.
In the conversation, Obi had responded to Bishop Oyedepo, saying he would be voting in Onitsha.
However, a quick check on the internet, revealed that Peter Obi was at the time in Agulu, his hometown in Anambra state and equally voted the next day with his wife, instead of the said Onitsha as emphasized in the leaked audio.
Reacting to the alleged viral phone call, netizens found the audio to be a heavily doctored, using Artificial Intelligence.
Following the heat of the reactions, the journalist behind the story while allegedly replying to the tweeps who called him out for publishing fake news; said he will ‘confess.’
