Lagos State’s arm of the Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo has tendered apologies on statements made by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Rev. Fr. Ebube Muonso, according to a report by Nigerian Tribune.

One of the members of the Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo group, Engineer Joe Igbokwe said; “We think it is a childish talk for a Reverend Father to say that one (1) Igbo Man equals five hundred (500) Hausa men.”
He added, “We least expected Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu to describe some Yoruba in Lagos as ‘political rascals’.”

Also speaking at the meeting, the group’s Vice Chairman, Hon Idimogu, said; “We condemn the statements made by the two Igbo men. We are certain those statements must have been made in error.”

Hon Idimogu added: “We want the two elders to know that each ethnic group in Nigeria has something to bring to the table. We also urge them to withdraw their statements and apologize.”

“Personally, I was embarrassed by the statements, particularly that of Rev. Fr. Muonso. We therefore appeal to Nigerians not to take their statements too seriously.”
