• ‘Obaseki went to court to support the CBN [swap] policy’ causing hardship to Nigerians

The Former Governor of Edo State and the Ex-National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has expressed regrets on supporting Godwin Obaseki to become governor of Edo State.

Recall that Obaseki became the successor of Oshiomhole in 2015 as Edo State governor under the platform of the APC.

Oshiomhole while speaking recently on his campaign trail in Benin city, lamented that Obaseki went to court to support the CBN naira swap policy that has caused hunger in the country. He alleged that seeing Obaseki in court made him regret the day he supported him to be Edo State governor.

He apologised to Edo people for making what he surmised to be a mistake on his own part.
He said, it is inhumane to ignore the people suffering while playing politics with their hardship.

He said: “Our people have money in the bank but they are hungry. I saw an accident victim recently who begged me for money but I couldn’t help him. People are lamenting and weeping but Obaseki went to court to support the CBN policy, I regret the day I made him governor. That shows no pity for the people, it’s pure wickedness.

“I acknowledge my mistake but it’s part of the reason we are human. We can’t know everything in life, only God knows the beginning and the end. You can’t know a man until you give him money and power. I apologise to Edo people for making Obaseki governor of the state.”
