Former England international Wayne Rooney has urged Kylian Mbappe to leave PSG to reach the levels of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Kylian Mbappe is among the most talented footballers of his generation.

The 23-year-old attacker enjoyed an excellent FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign with France. He won the tournament’s Golden Shoe after scoring eight goals in seven appearances. Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick during the final against Argentina but that couldn’t stop France from suffering a 4-2 defeat on penalties.

While speaking on News 18, Wayne Rooney said Kylian Mbappe would have to leave Paris Saint-Germain to reach the levels of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. He named Manchester United and Real Madrid as his ideal destinations for the Frenchman.

Rooney said(h/t Man Utd news): “I think he needs to leave that club and go to the PL, PSG is a massive club, but I think he’s done everything he can in the Ligue 1. Maybe a Manchester United or Real Madrid. If he needs to reach the level of Messi and Ronaldo I think he needs to join Manchester United or Real Madrid.”

Kylian Mbappe joined Paris Saint-Germain from AS Roma in 2017. He has played 237 games (in all competitions) for PSG thus far, registering 190 goals and 93 assists. The 23-year-old attacker helped the Paris outfit win four Ligue 1 titles, among other honours.

However, Kylian Mbappe is reportedly looking to leave the French club. He could make a move away from the Paris outfit at the end of the season. Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Liverpool have emerged as his potential destinations.
