The lives and freedom of 60 worshippers of Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Kaduna are at the mercy 9f daredevil bandits who raided their worship centre at Kasuwan Magani area, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State during night vigil, abducting about 60 members of the Church.
Narrating the ordeal to newsmen, the National President of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Dr. Awemi Maisamari, said: “On the first day of September 12, 6 people were abducted in a night raid by the terrorists at Ungwan Fada, a part of the town.
“With no preventative measures in place, terrorists stormed the Cherubim and Seraphim Church the following day, September 13, at around midnight, during a night vigil program at the Bayan Kasuwa quarters of Kasuwan Magani Town.” They succeeded in carting away more than sixty people from the church and neighboring houses.
Speaking further, Dr. Maisamari noted that the bandits couldn’t take all their captives with them because some of the victims were minors or aged people, while others had health issues. He also narrated how the terrorists abducted more people from nearby villages while moving with the victims.
The National President said that 45 people were confirmed missing but noted that the terrorists who spoke to residents via a phone call revealed that only 40 people were in their custody. He added that the terrorists demanded N200 million for the release of the victims.
