Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan is missing in the list of presidential aspirants scheduled for screening by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jonathan’s absence from the list is a shock to many as he was just recently cleared by the Federal High Court in Bayelsa as eligible to contest the presidential election.
While several speculations have surrounded whether the Bayelsa-born politician will enter the contest on the platform of the APC or not, Jonathan has remained silent on the issue.
However, Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of APC, has revealed that a total of 23 presidential aspirants have been cleared for screening.
He also noted that three aspirants – Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour; Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum and Godwin Emefiele, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), did not submit their forms.
Also, Akinwumi Adesina, President of African Development Bank (AfDB), who had a form purchased for him, has since distanced himself from the race.
Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu, former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, and former Minister of Education, Chukwuemeja Uwaezuoke Nwajiuba lead names of aspirants vying to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
