Former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday after consultation with PDP heavyweights in Government House, Asaba doled out a bag of US dollars to woo delegates in the forthcoming PDP National Convention.
Heated disagreement, narrowly falling short of fisticuff ensued among the Delta State Local Government Areas Chairmen over who gets what amount of the hard currency, according to a report by SaharaReporters.
After the initial disagreement, another round ensued among the council chairmen, apparently on the same sharing formula.
However, the situation was finally brought under control by leadership of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, (ALGON) and the sharing formula was accepted among the council chairmen.
Atiku had solicited votes from the delegates, and promised a better future for the people if elected as the president of Nigeria.
Speaking, the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who commended Atiku, said, the Delta State delegates shall vote for the best aspirant at the end of the day.
