A new anti-cult unit headed by Comrade Gift Mudi has been inaugurated in Ekpan community, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, following dissolution of the former squad, which was accused of meddling in community matters.

At the inauguration, the President, Delta State Anti-Cult Squad, Mr Uche Nwande warned against meddling in community affairs – and emphasised that the unit must abide by the rules and regulations establishing the state Anti-Cult Squad.

The president further stated that the duty of anti-cult squads is to check cult-related activities, and advised against wading into other areas.

Immediately after the inauguration, Mr Nwande led the new unit on a courtesy call to Uvwie Council Chairman, Hon. Ramson Onoyake.

The council chairman, represented by Secretary to Uvwie Local Government, Elder Margaret Obiku urged the new unit to discharge their duties professionally.

While pledging to carry out their duties with professionalism, the unit appealed to the Uvwie council chairman to lift the ban on anti-cult activities in Ekpan for optimal performance.
