Mark 5:21-24
A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subjected to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.
When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, ”If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, ”Who touched my clothes?”
”You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, ”and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?”’ But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, ”Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
We see in this story that, in the middle of an impossible situation, to receive God’s commendation we need to exercise faith.
In fact, this woman teaches us that faith overcomes difficulties.
She’s not mentioned by name. She had been sick for 12 years with an abnormal bleeding condition. Her blood wouldn’t clot normally, and her constant bleeding caused her to be weak, tired, frail, and drained of energy.
It’s one thing to have a bad day, week, month, or year … but this woman had a bad 12 years! Twelve years she had suffered.
This woman had been unclean for twelve years. This meant that she was cut off from the most important activities of the Jewish people: She could not enter the temple courts, she could not participate in any of the annual feasts.
Yet she remained faithful to God through his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.
Her faith made her to believe that once she touches Christ’s cloak, she would be healed – healed she was – completely.
This Sunday, the 5th day of December, 2021; it’s time for your faith to make you free of any infirmity, through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Just Believe.
