A prominent aide of Delta State Governor and former Commissioner for Commerce and Tourism, Chief (Mrs.) Mary Iyasere, is dead.


It was gathered that Chief Iyasere, a lawyer, passed away on Wednesday, September, 22 during a brief illness
Mrs. Iyasere served as a commissioner during the first term of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.  After Okowa’s first term, she was appointed a Special Adviser to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Development – a position she held until her death.


Mrs. Mary Iyasere hailed from Urhuakpor community in Agbon Kingdom, Delta State. She was an Urhobo traditional title holder and a grass root politician.

She founded Ethiope East LGA-based Urhuakpor Women in Politics (UWIP).
