An agent of All Progressives Congress (APC) in today’s by-election in Delta State have been reportedly dhot dead by hoodlums believedvto be members of rival parties in the election.
The incident occurred about 3:15 p.m., when armed hoodlums stormed Irri Ward 10, Polling Unit 5, apparently to snatch ballot papers.
Eyewitness say the hoodlums who were armed with AK47 rifles, fired sporadically in the air to scare away voters before one of them shot the victim for an unclear reason.
Prior to the tragic incident, the election had been relatively peaceful, with no reports of violence in any of the units.
At the time of filing this report, the state police were yet to comment on the incident.
