A 13-year-old boy from Kwekwe, Zimbabwe has been arrested after he stabbed his stepdad for ending the union with his mother.
Absolom Muzanharo, 45 was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital with the knife still stuck in his chest.
Midlands’ provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
According to the police report, Muzanharo arrived home from work and demanded his belongings from Flora Nkomo, 46 saying he was no longer interested in their relationship.
A misunderstanding arose between the two and Muzanharo allegedly struck Nkomo with a stone once on the chest.
During the melee, Nkomo managed to escape leaving Muzanharo and her son in the house. Muzanharo allegedly tried to strike his stepson with a stick and the boy drew a knife and stabbed him once in the chest.
Muzanharo fell down with the knife stuck on his chest, and the incident was reported to the police.
The scene was attended and the 13-year-old juvenile was arrested on the spot.
Muzanharo was ferried to Kwekwe General Hospital and later transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital for further management.
Inspector Mahoko, however, appealed to members of the public not to resort to violence.
“We appeal to members of the public to solve disputes amicably and avoid the use of violence. Common sense should always prevail in determining ways of handling disputes,” he said.
