Mainstream Nigerian newspapers, Monday, July 12, protested against the proposed controversial press and media bills from the Federal Government of Nigeria; which is believed, would inhibit press rights and freedom with front-page headline – ”Information Blackout’.

Major newspapers like; The Guardian, Vanguard, The Sun, Punch and Tribune had ”Information Blackout’ as the front-page headline.

The move was jointly sponsored by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), National Guild of Editors (NGE) and Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN).

Sources in the unions say, the ‘protest’ will run for two days.
