The Federal government on Monday threatened to jail Local Government Council, chairmen sharing council allocation with governors in the various states of the Federation.

While making the threat, President Muhammadu Buhari said that on no account the funds allocated to the LGA be shared with greedy governors as such funds were strictly meant for the development of the various LGA councils.

Buhari further added that governors sharing LGA money would also meet their waterloo.

Buhari’s press statement, which was posted by an APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe, on his Facebook page, maintained that any LGA council chairman found culpable of handing over funds to their State governor will give account at EFCC or Kirikiri maximum prison.

His words: “You people are just wasting your time, we have sent money directly to the Local Government Account this week. And if you like, withdraw the money from that account and hand it over to your Governor, you will give an account of it properly at EFCC or Kirikiri Maximum Prison.”
