A-12-years old primary school pupil, male has allegedly died by suicide in Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The bizarre incident occurred on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at River Road, Ekpan.
The boy was said to have returned from school at 3.00 p.m. and went straight to his parents’ residence without the usual stop at his mother’s shop located close to their house.
The boy, who is the first child of his parents, was said have taken his life by hanging with a piece of cloth in a ward robe in one of the rooms in the apartment, while his younger siblings were in the living room.
Attempts to save his life after one of his siblings discovered the gory scene was unsuccessful as he was declared dead on arrival at the general hospital where he was rushed to.
It was gathered that the boy sat for primary six mock examination last Friday, June 11 and that he was preparing for the primary six external examination, scheduled for Saturday, June 19.
Although the motive is yet to be ascertained, some residents of the area attributed the incident to influence of Nigerian movies, while others said that it was evil forces.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Edafe Bright, is yet to comment on the incident at the time of filling this report.
