Open grazing is still being rampantly practised in Delta State, despite the ban placed on it by South-South governors.

Recall that the governors had in a meeting at Asaba, outlawed open grazing in the region.

In contravention to the ban, cows have been grazing in many parts of the state unhindered.

On Thursday, May 27, herdsmen and their cattle caused a scene along Ughelli-Ogwashi-Uku road, causing traffic jam.

Commenting on the issue, Deltans blame lack of legislation to back the ban as a reason for the infractions.

They urged the governors to go a step further to strengthen their resolution by passing law against open grazing.
