The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has congratulated Prof. Jacob Oboreh on his appointment as Vice Chancellor, Delta State University of Science and Technology.
The union in a release signed by its Chairman Comrade Michael Ikeogwu and Secretary, Patrick Ochei stated that it is not a surprise that an “academician of Oboreh’s status was appointed to head the newly created University. It only shows that the Government of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa knows how to reward hardwork and due diligence.
“We make bold to state that Professor Oboreh deserves the appointment, being eminently qualified and having distinguished himself in his previous assignment as the Rector of the then Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro” the release added.
“Based on his intimidating achievements, NUJ then presented him with a ‘Distinguished Excellence Award’ as a way of recognising, encouraging and motivating him to keep the good work going.
“From the appointments made by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the newly established State Universities, Prof. Oboreh is singled out as a man that needs no screening for the job, because his previous record still speaks volume”.
The state council of the union however advised Prof. Oboreh to strive to “surpass his past record and further bring good governance and discipline within the academic citadel”.
