A newly wedded woman, Happy Nyasumo of Serengeti in Mara Region of Tanzania, on Wednesday, April 14 stabbed her husband, Bebe Mbogo to death after he demanded his conjugal rights of making love to her.
Nyasumo in a statement to police said she detested her husband and was forced into the marriage by her parents on March 31, 2021.
The 18-year-old stabbed her spouse while he was sleeping and showed off the murder weapon to her mother-in-law.
According to a report by The Standard, the 18-year-old said she murdered her spouse after he reportedly forced her to have intimate relations.
She had informed her parents about her plans to end the union, but they refused and asked her to go back to her husband, saying they could not return the bride price that the groom had paid.
On the fateful night when the dispute escalated, the woman waited until her husband was asleep and attacked him with a knife, according to the report.
“Nyasumo said she stabbed her husband three times in the neck after he forced her to have sex with him,” Majimoto Councilor, Johannes Masirori said.
After committing the horrendous atrocity, she went to her mother-in-law’s house, where she showed off the murder weapon while eating food she brought along.
The police said the woman has been arrested and would soon be charged to court.
