- Child allegedly left to die
A young girl, Rejoice Kennedy whose feet and hands were tightly tied together with ropes, her mouth gagged with spanner to prevent her from shouting, by her mother, Mrs Betty Kennedy in Agbharo, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State has been rescued by activists; Comrades Wale, Uruemu and other public spirited individuals.
A video shared on Facebook on March 8, 2021 shows the little girl’s feet and hands tightly tied together with synthetic ropes, and neighbours as well as sympathizers lamenting how the inhuman treatment could be meted out to such a little child.
The mother however said that the child was in the habit of escaping from home, and most times, they had to engage vigilante members to bring the child back home – often by midnight.
She regretted not reporting the child’s behaviour to the police and human rights activists, and pleaded for forgiveness.
Realtime.ng gathered that the culprit (mother to the girl) has been arrested by the police in Agbarho.
Details later.
