Police in Delta State have confirmed the death of a couple, Matilda and Ufuoma Alome, who were found lifeless in their apartment along NDDC road in Amukpe, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the remains of the deceased were discovered after curious neighbours “peeped through the window” of their apartment when they did not notice any activities late in the morning. One was found on the floor, while the other was on the bed.

A source who pleaded for anonymity said the two lovers attended a party the previous night.

“They came home late after the party and slept off yesterday, only to wake up this morning and we found them dead,” the source disclosed.

According to the source, Ufuoma and Mathilda returned from overseas last year and moved into the area last December.

“He occasionally uses his vehicle to shuttle between Sapele and Warri route, and he was a lively fellow who was always visible. When neighbours woke up that morning and noticed his vehicle was there and there was no sign of him or his wife, we became worried.

“His window was opened but when we noticed his door was locked inside, we became curious. That was when we looked through the windows and saw the dead bodies,” our source stated.

However, another source said their death might have been caused by generator fumes.

“Their generator was put on yesterday when they came back, and we are suspecting it to be the cause of their death,” he explained.

At the time of filing this report, their corpses have been deposited in a morgue.
