Gunmen have reportedly attacked a military check point at Oton community Sapele, Delta State, killing one army officer and allegedly made away with his gun, according to a report by Advocate online.
The gunmen who allegedly came by speed boat through the Oton river were said to have opened fire at the army officers who were at a checkpoint at the entrance of the community, close to the river.
It was also gathered that a police man was shot dead alongside the army officer.
A security source who spoke to Advocate online in confidence, confirmed the reported attacked and said: “yes there was an attack, one army has been confirmed dead, but the situation is still not very clear.”
Meanwhile, tension is reportedly building up in the community for fear of possible military onslaught following massive deployment of men of 19 Battalion, Nigerian Army Moko to the community last night.
