A gang of armed robbers have invaded Osheribe Street in Kosini area of Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, vandalizing vehicles parked in the street. The robbers were said to have targeted night watchmen who they overpowered, bounded with strings; in order to have unfettered access to vehicles parked in the area.

A victim of the robbery incident who did not want his name in print, said the invading robbers struck in the dead of night, but did not attack any house.

“They [armed robbers] were so professional in their operations as they stole important appliances in all the parked vehicles; including mine”, he stated.

The source disclosed that after the incident, residents of the area relieved the night watchmen of their duties and engaged younger guards of northern extraction.

Meanwhile, a security operative, Cyprain Okoh has warned against entrusting security of lives and property to those whose background could not be easily ascertained.

He said that some security guards are known to either steal valuables or commit serious crimes before disappearing to other parts of the country – and are usually not traceable because of their distant areas of origin.
