
Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has called on fellow citizens to learn from the challenges, gains as well as losses in 2020.
The advice was contained in a statement issued by the former President on Friday as part of his New Year message to Nigerians, which was delivered through his Twitter handle.
The Ex-President said 2020 was a challenging year for many homes and families due to the COVID-19 pandemic and insecurity.
He said that in addition to the pandemic, Nigeria also witnessed the EndSARS protests and disruptions in the nation’s economy as well as the general activities of the people.
Jonathan stated that despite the setbacks, all Nigerians should learn from the past challenges and commit to the new norms.
He said: “The recent happenings in our world, specifically in our country Nigeria, should teach us new lessons. Lessons on faith, solidarity, justice, hope and peace.”
He advised Nigerians to prioritize habits that entrench accountability, justice, and peace in the Nigerian systems and commended Nigerians for the courage they displayed in the midst of daunting challenges.
He also commiserated with families who lost loved ones to COVID- 19 and other illnesses and circumstances in the year 2020.
