The protest aimed at ending SARS reign of terror, Tuesday horribly turned bloody as 43 protesters and six policemen lost their lives in different parts of the country.
The protests which have been ongoing since October 8 assumed a violent dimension last week when hoodlums allegedly attacked protesters in Lagos and Abuja.
The hoodlums became emboldened on Tuesday – killing six protesters at Waru, Wumba and Kubuwa in the Federal Capital Territory.
Lagos
In Lagos alone, 29 people were reportedly killed; 27 protesters and two policemen died in the confrontations, with protesters accusing Police of firing into the crowds.
Orile Police Station was torched and lives lost in the ensuing confrontations.
At the Lekki area of the state, armed soldiers allegedly shot sporadically at the #EndSARS protesters, killing protesters.
There were also confrontations at Ketu, Ikorodu and many parts of the state – causing deaths and injuries.
Oyo
2 Policemen and three protesters allegedly killed.
Ogun
Customs Officer killed, another injured.
It was gathered that residents of the border communities seized the opportunity of the ongoing protest to demand an end to the incessant killings by operatives of the NSC.
Kano
Eyewitnesses said 4 people were killed in Sabon Gari area when hoodlums attacked #EndSARS protesters.
It was gathered that the protest which started peacefully at noon, turned violent when some hoodlums attacked the protesters.
Edo
2 were killed In Edo State, when youths and hoodlums in Benin defied the 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government and clashed with policemen.
Abia
2 Police Officers were killed in Aba, according to the command Police Public Relations Officer.
IG deploys riot policemen nationwide as violence escalates
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Tuesday, ordered the deployment of riot policemen nationwide to protect lives and property.
The IG also deployed operatives to strengthen the security around custodial facilities nationwide.
The IG in his directive ordered the commissioners of police in the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT to identify and isolate law-breakers from peaceful protesters, and immediately arrest and diligently prosecute such perpetrators of violence in their respective commands.
Hillary Clinton tells Buhari, Nigeria Army to stop killing #ENDSARS protesters
A former US Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, on Tuesday urged President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Nigerian Army to stop killing the young #EndSARS protesters.
Clinton, a former American senator and First Lady, made the call in a tweet via her verified Twitter handle, @HillaryClinton, few hours after soldiers opened fire on the young peaceful protesters calling for an end to police brutality and reform of the police at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.
Seven were said to have been killed and others injured in the attack.
Cliton’s tweet posted at 11.11pm Nigerian time on Monday received over 78,000 retweets within 35 minutes of being posted.
“I’m calling on @mbuhari and the @hqnigerianarmy to stop killing young #EndSARS protesters. #StopNigeriaGovernment,” the tweet read.
