Fourteen #EndSARS protesters arrested in connection with killing of Police Corporal, Stanley Etaga in Ughelli, Delta State, have been released from Police custody.

The protesters were arrested following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, over the killing of the policeman and carting away his service rifle.

 

Violence reportedly broke out when police operatives clashed with the protesting youths during the #EndSARS protest in the town.

Some of the youths were arrested during the protest, charged to court and had been in Police custody.

 

However, following legal advice from the Delta State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Mr. Peter Mrakpo; Governor Okowa prevailed on the Delta Police Commissioner, Hafiz Inuwa, to release the suspects from custody.

 

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the release of the protesters when contacted.
