Nine persons have been reportedly killled over a boundary dispute between Oleh and Ozoro communities in Delta state.

The victims were allegedly hacked to death Friday over a parcel of land suspected to have oil deposit.

The nine deceased were identified as indigenes of Oleh community, the headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area.

Sources have it that the whole area is enveloped in fear as the communities were poised for war.


A Chief in the community told our reporter that the nine victims went to their farms Friday morning where they were ambushed and hacked to death by indigenes of Ozoro community.

Among those killed were elderly women, men and boys.

It was gathered that the remains of the deceased were displayed at the centre of Oleh town, with their relatives wailing uncontrollably.

The two communities have been at dagger drawn over the boundary, and efforts to resolve the issue were unsuccessful.
The Delta State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident but did not give the number of those killed.

She said that the command was already deploying security men to the area to forestall further breakdown of law and other.
