Four of the victims abducted Wednesday by gunmen along Ughelli-Effurun road in Delta State have been rescued.
Realtime.ng had reported that gunmen kidnapped a fully loaded mass transit bus belonging to a popular transport company in Effurun/Warri and other vehicles.
The driver of the mass transit bus was among the rescued four, but details of how and where they were rescued were yet to be obtained at the time of filing this report.
Five persons were feared shot in the attack and are receiving treatment at various undisclosed hospitals.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, confirmed the rescue via an SMS.
She said: “Yes” in response to question seeking confirmation of the rescued four.
The Police Command has promised to intensify efforts to ensure that all those abducted are freed.
