A Police officer attached to the Nigeria Police Force has been reportedly killed by protesters of #EndSars in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to sources, the police corporal identified as Stanley Etaga who was drafted in to douse tension was killed at Otovwodo along the East /West road by the protesters suspected to be internet fraudsters, according to Pointer.
When the newspaper reporter visited the scene at Otovwodo, Police officers from the Ughelli Area Command were stationed at strategic positions to mount surveillance.
The incident also lead to the destruction of several cars as commuters along the East-West road axis of Otovwodo junction scampered for safety following gunshots while the melee lasted.
The protesters had began their protest from the Otovwodo junction axis of Ughelli, and marched through Isoko road to market road while boycotting the Ughelli ‘A’ Division Police Station to Ekuigbo and back to Otovwodo junction.
Protesting in a convoy of tens of exotic cars in company of some female protesters, one of the leaders of the protesters who identified himself as Ochuko, said they had decided to boycott the police station in a bid to forstall a clash with policemen at the station.
It was gathered that some of the protesters whom were apparently agitated, had met a team of policemen at Otovwodo junction where the protest walk was scheduled to end. Somehow, there was a clash leading to sporadic gunfire from all directions.
