The President of a factional youths wing of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU Mr. Efemena Umukoro, has joined the demand for arrest and prosecution of the CEO of Signatious Hotel, Olologun (Barr) Kenneth Gbagi over stripping of workers of his hotel.

The former minister and an aspirant of 2023 governorship race in Delta State allegedly stripped four of his workers (three females and male) naked at the hotel, ordered the workers in the nude state to be photographed and videoed. The nude photos and video have since gone viral with the public condeming the act as lewd, obscene and criminal.

Gbagi was declared wanted by the Delta Police Command for failing to honour Police invitation over the incident.

However, a Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the Police from arresting him, until the determination of suit seeking to enforce his fundamental human rights.

Gbagi had also consistently denied involvement in the alleged stripping of the workers.

The factional UPU youth President, Umukoro who spoke on Friday at the university town of Abraka, condemned the act in its entirety.

He called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to expedite action for arrest and prosecution of Chief Gbagi over the incident.

While describing the action of the PDP governorship aspirant as barbaric, he noted that “Gbagi is giving Urhobo people a bad name. Urhobo people are known to be hospitable and peace loving.

“He must be arrested and prosecuted because he cannot be above the law. We are saying that justice must be done. It should be placed on record that the police from Ebrumede Police Station were not involved in the stripping of the workers.

“The Ebrumede Police came a day after to investigate a complaint lodged in the station. They were not informed of the stripping.”

Umukoro, while calling for the arrest of the Policemen from the Special Protection Unit attached to Gbagi, he alleged that the Policemen “supervised the illegality” – after a phone was given to a 15-year-old boy to video the victims.

He also called on the Inspector General of Police to reprimand the Police officers attached to Gbagi.
