Delta State Football Association on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 elected new executive to run its affairs in the next four years.
The contest which took place at the indoor sports hall of the Stephen Keshi’s stadium, Asaba saw Hon Ken Nwaomucha defeating Emmanuel Aniemeke with 26 out of the 27 votes cast.
The chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Toniobor Okowa said with the success of the election, it behooves on the new executive to immediately commence work to advance the game of football in the state.
He noted that much was expected from the new team and with the outcome of the elections, there was absolute confidence on the Nwaomucha-led team to hit the ground running and deliver.
The South-South zonal coordinator of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman, Akwa Ibom Football Association, Mr. Emmanuel Ibaa, said with Delta Football Association successfully electing its executive members, the state should be determined to make impact on the game of football.
In an acceptance speech, Mr. Ken Nwaomucha assured all stakeholders that his led executive would deliver on its mandate to ensure that Delta takes her pride of place in the NFF and on the game of football.
Nwaomucha who played for the defunct Flash Flamingos, NNPC and Delta Glass in his youthful years where he distinguished himself in the game of football, took over from Austin Jay Jay Okocha, who did only single term of 4 years of the 8 years to be occupied by the Delta North.
The Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ochor C. Ochor and the member representing Ndokwa west constituency in the state Assembly, Hon. Charles Emetulu were among others who felicitated with Mr. Ken Nwaomucha on his well deserved victory.
