Revenue boss issues marching order to consultant over forged vehicle particulars
The Chairman Delta Internal Revenue Service, DIRS, Sir Monday Onyeme, has directed Richfield Technologies Limited, the Consultant providing technical support for motor vehicle administration in the state to provide details of individuals within and outside the board involved in alleged procurement of forged vehicle particulars for members of the public, thereby denying government of much-needed revenue.
The directive was issued Wednesday in Warri at an interactive session between the management of DIRS, Richfield Technologies Limited and representatives of insurance managers operating in Delta state.
Sir Onyeme, who was represented at the interactive session by the board member representing Delta Central, Hon. Kelly Oghenekevwe, stated that the directive became necessary as a result of complaints received from members of the public whose documents were declared fake by security personnel.
The Chairman further warned that any member of staff found to have been involved in the illegal activities would be recommended for dismissal from service. He stressed that government would no longer tolerate “saboteurs from within working with enemies of government to derail the revenue generation focus of the board.”
However, the Managing Director of Richfield Technologies Limited, Dr Donald Peterson had earlier expressed optimism that the board would surpass previous revenue targets in the motor vehicle administration sector by the introduction of new technological solutions.
Peterson further said that the electronic insurance platform for vehicle administration, would accommodate willing insurance companies.
He added that the platform would ensure that vehicle documents issued through this process would be genuine and “impossible” to fake.
The consultant also assured the Chairman that steps were being taken to address stakeholders’ concerns and plug revenue leakages in the system.
