Security operatives on guard duty at the premises of Premium Steel & Mines Limited(former Delta Steel Company, DSC) in Ovwian/Aladja community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday morning at about 4 am shot and injured a suspected thief, Solomon Otuedor in his attempts to steal cables, rods and other items from the yard.
Four other gang members to the suspect who sensed grave dangers escaped from the scene of the incident.
The security operatives promptly dumped the suspects who was seriously wounded at Julius Berger bypass in Obuvu Quarters in Aladja community.
It was learnt that the family of the suspect who is in his early twenties have rushed him to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatments.
When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa in a text message to Our Correspondent said, “Am in Abuja now, kindly call the PPRO.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya is yet to respond to a text message sent across to her mobile phone line or pick calls.
