The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Thursday’s purported sitting and oath-taking of twelve lawmakers-elect of the Edo state House of Assembly as a tragicomedy.
National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan in a tweet on Thursday alleged that the twelve anti-Obaseki lawmakers sat in the parlour of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Ologbondiyan regretted that, “twenty-one years into our contemporary democracy, a set of clowns will go and gather in a private residence purporting, in their dreams, that they are holding a legislative session……”
The twelve lawmakers-elect of the Edo state House of Assembly, who were not inaugurated in June 2019 when the current House started were reported to have taken their oath of office at a hidden location in Benin, the state capital, on Thursday.
RealTime24 gathered that after taking the oath of office, Victor Edoror, who was impeached as deputy speaker in 2018, was elected speaker.
